Peer Review Process

Review Model

The Journal of Social Commerce implements a blind peer review process. In this system, the identities of reviewers are kept confidential, while authors’ identities are visible to the reviewers. This model ensures objective and constructive assessments while maintaining accountability within the review cycle.

Review Workflow and Procedures

1. Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts are first reviewed by the assigned editor to determine their alignment with the journal’s scope, adherence to formatting guidelines, and baseline scholarly merit. Manuscripts are also screened using Turnitin.

    • Plagiarism threshold: The journal only considers manuscripts with less than 20% similarity.

2. Reviewer Assignment

Submissions passing the initial screening are sent to a panel of at least three independent reviewers. Reviewers are selected based on:

    • Subject matter expertise relevant to the manuscript.
    • Academic credentials (typically holding a PhD or equivalent).
    • Independence from the authors and their institutions.
    • Absence of conflicts of interest.

3. Blind Peer Review Process

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts using academic criteria, including

    • Originality and relevance to the field of social commerce.
    • Theoretical and methodological rigor.
    • Logical coherence and structure.
    • Use of contemporary and appropriate literature.
    • Academic writing quality and citation standards.

Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors, and all feedback is constructive and detailed.

4. Review Rounds and Reassessment

    • Manuscripts requiring revisions may undergo second or third review rounds, depending on the complexity of revisions and reviewer feedback.
    • Revisions are re-evaluated, preferably by the same reviewers to ensure continuity.

5. Final Editorial Decision

The assigned editor makes the final decision on acceptance, rejection, or further revision, taking into account reviewer reports and the author's responses.

6. Post-Acceptance Process

Once accepted, manuscripts enter the production phase, which includes

    • Copyediting for clarity and consistency.
    • Proofreading and final layout formatting.
    • Publication on the journal website.

Ethical and Confidentiality Standards

Journal of Social Commerce upholds the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and expects all parties involved in the review process to act ethically.

Reviewers must:

    • Treat manuscripts and data as confidential.
    • Disclose any conflicts of interest.
    • Provide honest, constructive, and timely reviews.
