Data on water purity were collected from 100 samples of potable water in the study region, while data on public health were gathered through direct interviews with 200 randomly selected respondents from the same area. The results of the analysis indicate that the quality of potable water in urban areas typically does not meet government-mandated quality standards, with water quality parameter values that exceed the established limits. Several diseases, including diarrhea, skin diseases, respiratory problems, and cancer, can result from exposure to contaminants in ingested potable water, according to the findings of this study. In order to prevent negative effects on public health, efforts to enhance the purity of potable water in urban areas require serious consideration. Efforts that can be made include increasing supervision and control of water quality at all phases of potable water production and distribution, as well as increasing public awareness of the importance of protecting and enhancing the local environment in order to reduce pollution. This research provides an overview of the quality of drinking water and its impact on public health in urban areas, as well as the need for serious attention from all parties to improve the quality of drinking water so that it meets quality standards and does not negatively affect public health.
Maria Silva Copyright (c) 2023 Journal i Mappedic https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/96 Fri, 01 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Prevention of Osteoporosis in Middle Ages https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/99
Osteoporosis is a prevalent health concern among individuals in their middle age, which can result in substantial deterioration of bone tissue. The objective of this investigation is to assess the risk factors, healthy lifestyle practices, and efficacy of hormonal and pharmacological interventions in mitigating the onset of osteoporosis during middle age. The present study employed a cross-sectional survey approach, which involved the participation of 300 individuals within the age range of 40 to 59 years. The data was gathered via a survey instrument that encompassed risk factors, healthy lifestyle practices, and the utilization of hormonal therapy and medications. Furthermore, bone densitometry assessment is conducted for the purpose of identifying bone density. The study findings indicate that osteoporosis is linked to various risk factors, including but not limited to age, gender, genetic predisposition, and lifestyle choices such as inadequate physical activity, tobacco use, and excessive alcohol intake. The utilization of hormonal therapy and pharmacological agents, including bisphosphonates and teriparatide, exhibit significant efficacy in the prevention of osteoporosis during middle age. Research has demonstrated that adopting a healthy lifestyle, which includes the consumption of calcium and vitamin D-rich foods, along with engaging in regular physical activity, can aid in the prevention of osteoporosis. The timely identification of osteoporosis via bone densitometry screening during middle age is crucial for the implementation of early preventative measures aimed at reducing the likelihood of developing the condition.
Nabila Mahsuna Izza Copyright (c) 2023 Journal i Mappedic https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/99 Fri, 01 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 The Effect of Lifestyle and Consumption of Fast Food on the Health of Elementary School Children in Urban Areas https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/98
The objective of this investigation is to assess the impact of lifestyle and fast-food consumption on the well-being of primary school students residing in urban localities. The study included a sample of 200 participants who were children between the ages of 6 and 12 residing in urban regions. The study employed interviews and anthropometric measurements as data collection methods, and utilized the chi-square test and logistic regression for data analysis. The findings indicated that a significant proportion of the participants exhibited poor dietary habits and a sedentary way of life. The regular intake of fast food has been linked to an elevated likelihood of obesity and other health complications among children. A noteworthy correlation exists between the lifestyle and fast-food consumption patterns of elementary school children residing in urban areas and their nutritional status. The involvement of parents and families is crucial in influencing the development of wholesome lifestyles and dietary habits in children. There is a pressing need to heighten awareness and mobilize stakeholders such as parents, healthcare professionals, and policy makers in the health and education domains to foster healthy dietary practices and lifestyles among children residing in urban locales. The findings of this study suggest that there is a need for more rigorous and systematic endeavors to enhance the dietary habits and exercise routines of children residing in urban localities.
Lucia Fernandez, Jamal Ahmed Copyright (c) 2023 Journal i Mappedic https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/98 Fri, 01 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 The Role of Health Promotion in Preventing the Spread of HIV/AIDS among Adolescents https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/100
The prevalence of HIV/AIDS remains a noteworthy concern in the realm of global health, particularly in the adolescent population. The implementation of health promotion strategies can be a significant factor in mitigating the proliferation of HIV/AIDS among the adolescent population. The objective of this study is to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours of adolescents in relation to HIV/AIDS prevention, as well as the factors that impact these factors. The present investigation employs a quantitative methodology utilizing a cross-sectional research design. The study sample comprised of 500 adolescents who were selected at random from multiple educational institutions located in the urban area of Yogyakarta. The study employed a structured questionnaire to gather data, which was subsequently subjected to statistical analysis using Chi-Square tests and Logistic Regression. The findings indicate that a significant proportion of participants exhibited inadequate awareness regarding HIV/AIDS. Nevertheless, the majority of individuals exhibit a favourable disposition towards the prevention of HIV/AIDS, and have implemented preventative measures such as the utilization of condoms during sexual activity. Gender, age, and level of education are among the factors that impact prevention practices. Furthermore, the present study has revealed that the provision of health education and access to information pertaining to HIV/AIDS can enhance the knowledge and practices of young individuals with regards to prevention.
Fatima Kamara Copyright (c) 2023 Journal i Mappedic https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/100 Fri, 01 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Evaluation Study of Vaccination Programs for Elementary School-aged Children in Rural Areas https://celebesscholarpg.com/index.php/iMappedic/article/view/101
Immunization is a crucial preventive measure aimed at safeguarding children against illnesses that may have adverse health consequences.
